MeaMarie Bridal Atelier
A private bridal studio featuring the world's leading haute couture bridal designers.
Located in the heart of downtown Kirkland.
How did MeaMarie bridal get started?
MeaMarie Bridal Atelier is a bridal studio in the posh city of Downtown Kirkland. Mea has visited Europe and spoken with amazing bridal shop owners from all over the world. Mea brought the concept of a studio from Europe and Asia to Western Washington. MeaMarie Bridal is a one on one, giving the brides the ultimate bridal experience without the distraction of others.
What's it like to be a MeaMarie bride? How is the experience different from other bridal shops?
MeaMarie brides want exclusivity, haute couture and personalized services. Aside from offering champagne and the occasional strawberries and lady yum treats with all our consultations, we create a relationship with our brides before they even walk through the doors.
The experience at MeaMarie is very different from any bridal shop, because MeaMarie is a studio. We don't typically take walk-ins, our bridal consultants will get to know the brides wants and needs prior to their appointment. Our brides will have a one on one experience with no distractions from any other parties.
That's what we love about it because it creates a closer relationship which is something we really value here, we are there for our brides from the time they find their dress till the day they get married
What other services or items do you offer besides wedding gowns?
We have a lot to offer here, from wedding planning to floral designs and decor, to finding the dress of your dreams. We have also had the privilege in working with a couple great photographers, Becca Jones of B. Jones Photography and Patrick Nied. Everything that you need for your wedding we can point you in the right direction with our preferred vendors who we have had the honor in building relationships and working with!
What wedding gown trends are you the most excited about?
MeaMarie is excited to launch a new designer from Barcelona Spain called Yolan Cris. It's the first bohemian line we have carried and its a Haute Couture line with all organic cottons and natural fabrics. The illusion neckline and low back is really popular and trendy right now, even an illusion back with lace or lace aplicaes trickling up the back to create a floating lace filigree design. Pronovias and Atelier Pronovias have really come out with some exquisite designs with that look this year.
Bling, Bling and more Bling is also super popular right now! YSA Makino / Stephen Yearick has come out with beaded incrusted gowns that have really took off here!
Do you offer gowns in colors other than white?
Depending on the designer and the dress, it can come in a variety of colors such as Champagne, vintage, light gold, blush, mocha, cafe, red, black... ect.
Which designers do you carry?
We carry Pronovias, Kenneth Winston, Atelier Pronovias, Stephen Yearick, YSA Makino, Eve of Milady, YolanCris and Hervey Mirage
Any tips for finding your dream gown?
As a good friend of mine would say; it's important to date around and try on dresses, just like finding your soulmate you got to date your gown and get the feel for what you love on your body. Try to limit yourself on the amount of gowns you try on because the more and more you try the more they all start to run together, so let the your consultant guide you in the right direction.
As consultants were not just sales people but we are also a guide.
What options do you offer for your last minute brides?
Depending on how last minute it is the girls can either buy off the rack and have the dress altered through our seamstress or they can order a rush through specific designers.
What Should a bride bring with her on her dress search?
We just ask our girls to our the proper undergarments, and typically on our wedding dresses there is no bra needed.
About the Owner: Mea Mendez
My name is Mea Mendez owner of MeaMarie Bridal Atelier, I fell in love with wedding dresses back in 1998, when I was given the opportunity to work with an amazing set of sisters that designed their own dresses while I was attending design school in Seattle. I went to New York for my internship with a haute designer. From that experience I decided I was destine to open my own shop here in Everett.
About the Store Director: Rachelle Witt
What we do here at MeaMarie is we build a relationship with our Bride before she even walks in the door. I will go through our interview process either over the phone or through email and ask basic information.. Have they been to any other shops yet to get a feel for the style their looking for, or as Nikki (one of my favorite bridal mentors) would say "have you dated around tried on dresses, just like finding your soulmate you got to date your dress and get the feel for what you like and don't like on your body"
I will ask for their street size in dresses, gown budget.. along with sending a link to our Pinterest page that has all the designers and gowns we carry in the store (give or take) and they email me back pictures of dresses they would like to try on. By the time its their appointment I will have their dresses pulled and champagne or mimosas for the Bride and her party.
A question that is often asked the most from my brides is, "how long should I give myself in buying my dress?" You want to give yourself at least 9 months! 6 months to order (depending on the designer it can take longer) along with additional fabric and accessories, and 3 months for alterations. If you give yourself 9 months or longer there is no stress, and trying to press for more time and everything else on that check list will fall into place.
MeaMarie Bridal Atelier (along with Private Label) Is my baby just as much as it is the Owner's baby. I cherish this business and its growth along with My Own growth and I cherish all the woman that walk through these doors!
As a little Couture Studio in Kirkland we only do one appointment at a time to keep it more intimate and special for the Bride and her party. We are a one of a kind Bridal experience.
