Tucked into the Edgemoor neighborhood just up the hill from Fairhaven village, this 1914 Italian Renaissance estate is one of the most distinctly beautiful wedding venues in the entire Pacific Northwest — and one I've had the privilege of photographing more times than I can count.

I'm not just saying that. My parents live two minutes from this property. I grew up knowing this place, and I've spent 13 years learning exactly how to make it sing on camera.

The Italian Renaissance architecture — grand staircases, floor-to-ceiling windows, ornate wrought iron, original wood paneling — photographs like something out of a European film. The award-winning gardens are lush and layered, full of manicured hedges, bubbling fountains, and mature trees that create natural framing everywhere you look. And because the estate sits tucked away from the surrounding neighborhood, once you're inside the grounds you feel completely transported. Your guests will say it feels like the English countryside. The main ballroom stage

Floor-to-ceiling vintage glass windows line the back of the stage and the light that comes through them is something else entirely — soft, diffused, and completely timeless. This is where I get the bridal portraits that stop people mid-scroll.
The Fountain Garden

The heart of the estate. The pavilion, the courtyard, the bright blue bubbling fountain surrounded by manicured gardens — this is my go-to spot for couples portraits in the late afternoon when the light goes golden and everything glows. The moment you step under that covered entryway, you're inside a portrait. The architectural framing does half the work — all I have to do is put you in it.
The doorway from the reception into the manor

This threshold is one of my favorite spots on the property for candid moments — guests flowing in and out, couples stealing a quiet second together, the warm light from inside spilling out. It's a detail most people don't think to photograph. I always do
The Doorway to the Fountain Garden

That moment right before the ceremony begins — bride and parent standing just inside the doorway, about to step out into the garden — is one of the most emotionally charged frames of the entire day. The anticipation, the light, the architecture behind them. I position myself for this shot every single time.

There's a massive evergreen tree on the property that creates its own little world underneath it — natural shade, soft filtered light, and a canopy that makes even midday portraits look like golden hour.

A few things I tell every couple booking Lairmont Manor

Take advantage of the full day. Exclusive venue access runs 10am to 10pm. That's a gift — use it. Summer sunsets in Bellingham don't happen until around 9pm, which means you have golden hour well into the evening. We'll build your timeline to make sure we catch it.
The indoor spaces aren't a backup — they're a feature. If you love the idea of moody, editorial, architectural photography, lean into the interior of the manor. The grand hall and ballroom produce images that are completely different from any outdoor farm or waterfront venue. They're stunning in their own right.
No travel fees. I grew up in Bellingham. My parents are still there. Every Lairmont Manor wedding is also an excuse to see my family, which means I never charge travel fees for Bellingham weddings. What you'd spend on travel costs goes straight back into your collection.
Your timeline is created when you book and finalized a month out, not the day of. I know this venue cold — which spaces get which light at which time of year, how long it takes to move from the fountain garden to the manor interior, where the bottlenecks happen during family photos.
