Hi, I'm Becca! I've photographed 100+ weddings on Seattle's boats, and I'm a preferred vendor for both the MV Skansonia and the Virginia V. Which means I already know where the golden light hits the bow, which deck turns veils into kites, and how to light a dark wooden cabin so your reception looks glowy instead of cave-y.

Boat weddings are also just my happy place. My husband and I own a boat, and every day off we can manage is spent on the water fishing, crabbing and exploring the Pacific Northwest. So when I say I won't get seasick on your wedding day, I mean it.

Why boat weddings need a boat photographer

A boat is the best venue in Seattle. It's also the trickiest to photograph.

I love boat weddings, but they come with their own rulebook. Here's what I handle so you don't have to think about it:

  • Dark cabins: boat interiors are cozy, which is photographer-speak for "dark." I bring a full lighting setup so your reception photos glow.

  • Wind: I'll help you pick a veil and hairstyle that can handle a breeze, and I know which side of the boat is calmer.

  • The cruise schedule: on a boat that sails, the captain doesn't wait for photos. I build your timeline around where the boat will be at sunset, so we're on the bow when the skyline lights up.

  • Tight spaces: family photos on a boat are a puzzle. I once knocked out 30 family combinations in 35 minutes using my substitute-teacher voice. Efficiency is a love language.

  • Your dog: bring them! One couple's pup knew the phrase "do you want to go to the bar?" from their brewery days. We used it all day, and that dog looked at the camera every single time.

  • Posing: you'll never have to figure out what to do with your hands on a moving boat. I direct everything, so you look natural and feel confident.

  • Golden hour: every collection includes coverage during golden hour, when the light on the water is unreal.

  • 8 hours of coverage, including golden hour

  • 600+ color images plus a full black-and-white collection

  • A planning consultation and a custom photo timeline built for your boat

  • Professional lighting for dark cabins

  • Your gallery in 30 days or less (often sooner)

  • Free high-resolution downloads for your guests, so 150 people on a boat can have their favorites without paying a dime

  • 4x backup: two cards in camera, a laptop copy on the way home, the cloud and an external drive. Your gallery stays online until I retire.

Most boat weddings only need one photographer, so you can put your budget toward an engagement session or an album with panoramic spreads made for skyline shots.

  1. Book a complimentary consultation. It's a real planning session, not a sales call. Bring every decision maker. We'll talk through your boat, your vision and your budget.

  2. Get your custom timeline. I build your day around the boat: when to board, where the boat will be at sunset, and when to sneak away for portraits. It's yours to keep, even if you don't book with me.

  3. Wedding day. I'll keep you calm when the wind picks up, wrangle the family photos and hype you up all day. Toddler won't cooperate? I've shot an entire family photo set one-handed with a two-year-old on my hip.

  4. Your gallery. Delivered in 30 days or less, ready for you, your guests and your album.

Seattle Boat Wedding Photography FAQ’s

  • On some boats, yes! The MV Skansonia and Washington State Ferries are dog-friendly. The Virginia V isn't. For charter boats, ask the venue. And yes, I'm great with dogs.

  • Seattle gonna Seattle. Most wedding boats have covered decks or indoor space with the same capacity, and I bring lighting so indoor photos still look bright and airy.

  • Usually not. Boats keep everyone close together, so one photographer covers it beautifully. For 150+ guests or a split ceremony and reception, we can talk about adding one.

  • Nope. I spend most of my days off on my own boat or paddle board. You're in good hands.

  • In 30 days or less, and often sooner.

  • Yes, for free, in high resolution. Most photographers charge for that. I don't.

  • Most couples book 2–8 months out, but summer Saturdays on popular boats go fast, so 12–18 months out isn't unusual.
